What is a learning community?
1. a group of people having a particular characteristic in common.
2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
When I read the above definitions, my reaction is basically: YES!
We are not creating a school, an organization or an institution. We are building a community.
We will suppport our community members by giving them social networks, a sense of belonging, and actual resources.
Community to me means finding our common ground in the midst of all the differences that will undoubtedly be there. It means students knowing they have found a place to belong, to nestle in and be comfortable, but also to stretch and grow. It means parents feeling like they have a place to go for answers, a cup of coffee with another parent, or even a workshop.

This community will improve the quality of life of its members.
Bold words, we know.
But you guys rock so we know that's the way it's going to work.
